A Case by Case Basis
05-30-2009

The show begins by showing the opening credits for Saturday Rampage, with clips from action over the last year, overlaid by the show’s theme “Into The Unknown” by Blood Corps, and it gets the fans riled up, as pyros go off at the end of the musical opening and the cameras pan over the sold out arena.

Jon McDaniel’s voice echoes over the rowdy crowd, welcoming us to another edition of Saturday Night Rampage, and Brian Rentfro chimes in to talk about tonight’s line up, as well as the events that transpired last week.

McDaniel quickly covers that the first round of the case matches resulted in six winners who would be facing each other in three matches tonight; with the winners given the opportunity to trade their cases with their opponents, should they choose to do so.

Brian then added that when the show ended tonight, The six winners would then present their cases onstage and we would find out who will face off against the champions at Retribution. Jon then reminded us that no matter what happens; Riona Langly would be in a tough position of pulling double duty at the PPV; putting herself in an un-enviable position. Brian felt it was totally unfair, but Jon moved the show along by announcing that the first match of the evening, was about to get underway.

Sunshine Warrior vs Bret Cross

TV Title Contendership Match

Brian noted as Brett Cross came to the ring that this was his second match, but word was going around already that if he didn’t do something spectacular here tonight, it would be his last. Jon questioned where he got this information, but Brian remained silent. Adrian Adidas then came to the ring, and ‘The Sunshine Warrior’ looked pumped for his PWA Debut.

The match opens with the grapple. Brett Cross gets a hammerlock, which Sunshine Warrior counters, and Brett Cross recounters, and Sunshine Warrior recounters, and kicks him in the stomach, then in the face when he buckles over. Sunshine Warrior whips him into the ropes, then runs himself. Brett Cross jumps over him and he continues running. On the way back, with his back still to Sunshine Warrior, Brett Cross tries to jump over him again, but Sunshine Warrior comes up underneath him, landing Brett Cross on his shoulders. Sunshine Warrior stands and quickly tilts back, hitting a backdrop on him. Sunshine Warrior climbs up top and goes for an elbowdrop. Brett Cross rolls and Sunshine Warrior lands hard. Brett Cross picks him up and whips him into the ropes. Sunshine Warrior holds the ropes and stops and Brett Cross misses Yakuza kick he was going for. Sunshine Warrior, with Brett Cross spun by the kick and his back facing Sunshine Warrior, grabs him and goes another backdrop type move. Brett Cross flips back off his shoulder, grabs the ropes and lands on the apron. Sunshine Warrior isn't sure what happened and looks around, confused, but with his back toward Brett Cross on the apron. Brett Cross springs off the top rope just as Sunshine Warrior turns and catches him a massive flipping neckbreaker. He makes the cover... 1... 2... kick. Brett Cross picks him up and whips him into the ropes and catches him in a spinebuster slam and goes for the pin again...1...2...thr-KICKOUT! Sunshine Warrior shoulder blocks him in the corner a few times, then backs up with Brett Cross and delivers the Rise and Shine for the 1-2-3!

After the match, Jon and Brian discuss last week’s matches, and they set up more about the cases, as each of the six winners would face off tonight in three contests, and the winner could decide to switch his case with the losing opponent. Up first, Jacob Figgins, an ex member of the Pantheon would take on Matt Stone!

Lacie Gloria vs Roxanne Fux

Singles Match

Next, Brian was all keen to introduce the upcoming match, as Roxy Fux would take on new comer Lacey Gloria. His obvious pleasure with the bout left Jon shaking his head.

Lacey starts off with a series of suplexes, catching Roxy off guard. Roxy fights back, and gets the advantage when she is able to counter a body slam with a small package for a two count. Roxy gets to her feet first, and nearly takes off Lacey's head with a clothesline. A power bomb gets a two count for Roxy. A second powerbomb attempt gets reversed into a back body drop by Lacey. Lacey gets behind Roxy and locks on a sleeper hold. Roxy starts to fade, but starts to fight back, and Lacey picks her up by her head in the sleeper and turns it into an atomic drop. Roxy staggers and Lacey goes up top for a flying cross body. Roxy catches him, pivots Lacey's body and hits a powerslam for 3.

Winner: Roxy Fuxx in 4:10

It took a good full minute to get Brian off his bit with the sexual comments about the match’s ending, and Jon had to over ride him to talk about the next contest; placing Mark Zout against Homicide. Jon noted that Mark had been having a downward spiral lately, and new comer Homicide could likely score a huge upset here. Brian remarked about Roxy again, and Jon rolled his eyes.

A Word from our PWA Champion!

"Well life on the farm" and the rest of the words are drowned out as Jethro walks from the back with the PWA Heavyweight title around his waist. Jethro looks to the left and points; the crowd explodes in cheers. Jethro pans his hands to the center and that section of fans explodes as well. Cocking his head to the side, he points to the right and another explosion of cheers as Jethro smiles at the ovation he is getting.

He begins to walk down the entrance ramp, going from side to side, making sure to touch as many hands as he can on his way down. He goes around the ringside area, getting a microphone from Eric Emerson before stepping up the steps. At the top of the steps, he removes the belt to hold it high up over his head and point to it with the hand holding the microphone. He finishes climbing into the ring walking to stand in the middle of the squared circle.

"Indianapolis!"

A cheap pop, but he really didn't need the cheap pop; he waits for them to calm down somewhat.

"So how is everyone doing here tonight?"

Big pop again.

"You ready for some PWA wrestling action?!"

Indeed they are as the cheers have yet to die down; Jethro just smiles out at them. He turns from side to side encorporating each side into this in ring segment.

"You all have heard my words to one Hunter Sullivan."

Most of the crowd begins to boo, but Hunter does garner some cheers for his wrestling action.

"But, I am not so dense as to think the thing between him and myself is over by a long shot. See, Hunter has something to prove. We put each other through hell at High Stakes and just like the stubborn people we are, we will once again butt heads I am sure. Hunter has something to prove and he will prove it one day of that there is no doubt."

The cheers have died down some and they are listening to his words.

"But tonight, there are three case matches, six cases to be had."

The crowd cheers at that.

"Will they change hands or will the winner of the individual match choose to keep their case?"

He doesn't know, the crowd doesn't know, only the winner will know and that is probably right after they win.

"But what I do know is that my next challenger will be inside of that case. One of those cases holds a garanteed PWA World Heavyweight title shot. I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that the match will take place at Retribution!"

The crowd cheers at that as well, many of these fans may have tickets for that pay per view.

"It can be anyone in the case matches challenging me for this belt, but it doesn't matter to me who it is. I will give my best and defend this belt with honor. I will wear it with pride; I will defend it to the best of my abilities. The next challenger could be Marxx, but it looks like he is going to hold onto that Television title for a bit and nothing wrong with that belt either, losing it jump started me into the World Title hunt."

They remember that loss to Jonothan Riker; then the defeat of Riker in the World title defense.

"I welcome whomever it is into this ring and in the words of Judge Mills Lane... Let's Get it on! But I do happen to have a match tonight."

Cheers.

"I apologize that I couldn't compete last week, but the doctor ordered me not to because of some injuries obtained in the main event of High Stakes. Anyways tonight I take on Brandon Jones. I take on Adam Blue, Adam Blue takes on Brandon Jones. In other words, it is a triple threat match."

Laughter from the crowd.

"Two very worthy opponents in the ring at one time with the first pinfall getting the victory. Who will walk out the winner, what two people will walk out the non winners? I don't really like to say losers, because a person can't win all of the time and that word seems to demoralize who it is attached to. But, in a triple threat match, only one person can win the match and earn that winner's paycheck. Well, farming ain't been so good so far and I need that winner's paycheck."

More laughter.

"So, I plan on walking out of that match the winner and paying off a few farm bills, but the odds could go against me and I walk out not having won the match. But either way, I'm sure all of us will give it our best and give you!"

He points to each side of the arena to the fans seated there.

"A match worth screaming..."

The fans scream.

"Yelling..."

The fans yell.

"And writing about in your online blog things. Texting your friends about, and having just a good ole time. This match will not be the bathroom break of the evening because PWA Superstars! Put on one heck of a show! Folks, I need to go and prepare for the match so... until it is the due time... have fun, enjoy yourselves, and make sure to get the last few remaining tickets to the Retribution pay per view."

A "PWA!" chant starts in the crowd as Jethro has them pumped up for the card that takes place in the next few seconds. Jethro holds up the title as he climbs out of the ring, beginning his walk back up the entrance ramp. He pulls the microphone to his lips.

"Where am I going? The opening match is set for one fall and is the first triple threat of the evening. Introducing first.... ME!"

Jethro runs back to the ring to slide in under the bottom rope and toss the microphone to a... a smiling Eric Emerson? The crowd is loving it.

The Phoenix vs Viktor Stone vs Ryan Ross

Triple Threat Match

The main event featured The Pantheon’s Phoenix against the Alliance’s Ryan Ross and the Monster Viktor Stone. The Phoenix of course, had his special referee Alex Wilcox assigned to the match. However, not pleased with being booked to fight, Phoenix was quick to remove himself from battle and Stone and Ross went one on one for a good five minutes, while Phoenix saunted around outside the ring, shouting encouragement to Viktor Stone. Of course, Alex Wilcox did nothing to count Phoenix outside the ring, instead being very strict and admonishing both Ross and Stone for any cheating or underhanded tactics they tried to perform. Before long, the frustration got to the two men and they both turned and chased Phoenix, hauling him into the ring and began to double team him mercilessly yet keeping with in the rules. Phoenix then managed to get the advantage on Ross, throwing him into Stone, knocking the Monster out of the ring and Phoenix went for the Flame, but Ross reversed it and tried for his own finisher.

Phoenix dropped and hit a low blow, which Wilcox ‘missed’ and Stone scurried back in, but Phoenix hit a reverse mule kick, forcing Stone into the corner. Phoenix then went for the corner, eager to finish the match, but Ross fell into the ropes, crotching Phoenix and Stone went up and hit a superplex from the top rope. As both men lay there, Ross crawled over to cover Phoenix, but Stone got up, picked Ross up and hit the BBB! However, determined to make his statement, Viktor pulls Phoenix to his feet, but Phoenix kicks Viktor low, which only infuriates Stone more, who replies with a solid closed fist, and that staggers Phoenix enough for Stone to connect with another BBB. Wilcox counts a very slow, frustrating three count, but is forced to call for the bell.

Winner: Viktor Stone in 12:10

After the match, Wilcox grabs the microphone and states that the PWA may recognize Stone as the winner, but according to GWA regulations, since Viktor Stone used a closed fist, Phoenix wins by DQ! Wilcox then raises Phoenix’s hand as the arena boos loudly, but both men are quick to make their exit as Stone and Ross both come after them.

Deal, or no deal!?

As the ring is cleared and Brian and Jon continue to argue over the controversy of the main event, ‘Voices’ by Rev Theory begins and Chamelion walks out onto the stage to a mixture of cheers and boos.

Chamelion: And now, the moment that all of you and six of the PWA’s finest have been waiting for! Time to find out which case each of our contenders holds, and what title they are gunning for at Retribution. So, would our six winners, come forth, please?

The PWA’s theme, Into the Unknown plays as Figgins, Stone, Shadow Starr, Maverick, Duff and Riona step onto the stage. There is obvious tension between them, having just competed roughly throughout the night. Chamelion smirks.

Chamelion: First, to the winners tonight. Figgins, Shadow, Duff? Do any of you wish to trade your case for your opponent’s case?

The three stare at each other, then look at Chamelion and all three shake their heads no. Chamelion looks bummed.

Chamelion: You’re no fun. Very well. I say we go in alphabetical order here, and start with Duff. Duff, I gotta say, you lucked out last week… and we’ll do that again sometime; but for now, let’s see where you stand in the scheme of things.

Chamelion takes a key out of his pocket and motions for Duff to hold his case up. Chamelion slips the key in and turns the lock and steps back. Duff clicks open his case and flips the top up. He looks inside, and pulls out a large white piece of cardboard that reads “TV Title Contendership”

Chamelion: A TV title shot for Duff, not bad… win that belt and three defenses and you’re gunning for the PWA World title. Okay, next would be.. Jacob Figgins.

The same process is repeated, and Figgins opens his case to reveal…

Chamelion: A shot for the PWA Tag-Team titles! Kinda back where you started, kiddo, huh? Wonder who of these final four will be your partner in that little foray!?

Chamelion motions Johnny Maverick over and opens his case, which reveals.

Chamelion: And the answer comes rather quickly! How interesting! Johnny Maverick and Jacob Figgins, you two will have to figure out how to co-exist as you will chase after the PWA Tag-team titles at Retribution!

Chamelion then asks for Matt Stone to step up, and he unlocks his case… which then reveals.

Chamelion: Well, well; Riona Langly, may I introduce you to your challenger, Matt Stone!! So, I wonder, Riona… is it time for you to re-chase the PWA World title, or… not? Let’s see what you have!

Riona marches over, giving Chamelion the evil eye, which he grins and ignores, and unlocks her case. However, he takes the case from her, much to her dismay and peeks in. He looks there for a moment, then looks over to Shadow Starr, then back to the case, and then to Riona.

Chamelion: You are really not going to like me, anymore then you already do, Riona.

Chamelion turns the case around, revealing the card for the PWA Grizzly Beer championship. At this, Riona gasps, rage filling her eyes and Shadow Starr’s mouth gapes open. Riona steps back, dazed as Chamelion follows through with formality and opens Shadow Starr’s case to reveal a PWA World Title Shot!

Chamelion: Shocking, to say the least, but that’s how it goes. Shadow Starr, you will be challenging for the PWA World Title come Retribution. Riona, you have double duty, both defending your IC title against Matt Stone and going for Emperor Ian’s Grizzly Beer Title. The rest of you… Pffft, whatever. So, that ends Rampage tonight… hope to see you all back next week!

Chamelion saunters off, while the six case winners all stare at each other. Stone, eyeing Riona’s IC title, and Shadow Starr staring at his World Title card, in complete shock, as the scene fades to the PWA Logo.
